Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister, has directed the District Collectors to set up cells at district level also and get a registry of assigned lands and see how much of it was in the hands of unauthorized people. Chairing a review meeting of the revenue department here, he said about a quarter of the 55 lakh acres distributed to various sections of people in the last 50 years was moved away from the original owners. “We need to identify such land and redistribute it to the poor,” he said. The issue of assigned lands was a topic of hot discussion in the State after the Chief Minister announced that his family owned such land. He wrote a letter to the District Collector of Kadapa, asking him to take back the land. The issue had kicked up a storm in the state when Reddy announced that he had surrendered 610 acres of his family land since it was “assigned land”. As soon as he made the announcement, opposition members led by former CM Chandrababu Naidu attacked the CM, demanding that a criminal case be filed against Reddy. Later, YSR corrected his statement, saying he had surrendered 310 acres. The issue of “assigned lands” held by Naidu, and Eenadu media baron Ramoji Rao was also discussed in the house. Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao alleged that the Heritage Group, belonging to Naidu’s family, owned large tract’s of “assigned lands” in Shantipuram Mandal in Chittor district. He alleged that parts of Ramoji Film City were actually built on these lands. Other who came into the net of owning assigned lands include Jayalalithaa the extent of assigned land near Hyderabad found in the possession of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa has been put at eight acres and 10 `guntas’ by the Andhra Pradesh Government. and also includes GVK Group and Sanghi Group asking them to furnish details of the land they had. Other Prominent Persons include Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily Zahid Ali Khan. He has been found in possession of 25 acres of Assigned land on which a Big Bungalow is constructed and also has a Mango Orchad. This w as exposed by the Zee TV Teulgu News Channel in which the channel showed a picture of the bungalow which was sealed by the Government and the 25 acres of Farm house which is located in Ankapali which is near to Mannaguda in Poddar Mandal Of Ranga Reddy District. The estimated price of the land ranges between 30 to 50 Lakh rupees per Acre here and a farmer named Manakim has claimed that he has the patta passbook for the said land .which is XIV-B 474923, he says he has taken a loan on this land also but said that when he approached the RDO the Area MRO directed him to get the land back but when he approached the present owners of the land, he was mishandled by the owners goons. He has vehemently denied that he hasn’t sold his land to anyone infact he was pressurized to give his passbook Mandal Revenue Officer Ganesh Babu says Govt has allotted each farmer with 5acres but infact these lands have gone into wrong hands and the govt will take back all the lands from illegal holders. This land controversy has backfired on the editor seriously since he is supporting the Communist Parties in Andhra Pradesh whose slogan “Poor man’s land in rich man’s hand “is actually aimed against the MIM , but unfortunately it is only advertising the actions of their leaders. And not of the MIM. So all said and done is it not better that these media barons look into their affair and straighten them out, rather than throw dung on others.
